Mock Crest Tavern/Saturday Market/White Eagle

Hey jam and bluegrass fans! This weekend The Student Loan has several shows around Portland.
First up, we’ll be at one of our standards and favorites, the Mock Crest Tavern in North Portland, on Friday Sept. 3rd at 9pm. Then on Saturday, check us out at the Saturday Market main stage at 2pm, followed by the White Eagle Saloon (N. Russel St) at 4:30pm. It’s Bartender Saturday at the White Eagle, when we play lots of new tunes and jams for those lovely people that hear us every week. Come check it out! It’s a mini tour of Portland this weekend.

This Thursday, August 19th we’ll be at Biddy McGraw’s in NE Portland. And on Saturday, August 21st, Eagle Hour at the White Eagle Saloon, with special guest Jordan Marx on drums! Hope to see you there!

Feeling lucky? The Student Loan will be at the Queen of Hearts Tavern (SE 72nd and Harold) on Friday, August 13. Come check us out, it’s free entry and we’re playing from 9pm to 1am.
Then, White Eagle Saloon on Saturday the 14th! Since we aren’t playing at the White Eagle for first Saturday, we’re making the 14th our new First Saturday this month. It’s Bartender Saturday, where we play lots of new tunes and jams in honor of the people that hear us every week. This show is free and all ages, 4:30-7:00pm. Hope to see you out and about!
Bainbridge Bluegrass Festival July 24th

Check out The Student Loan Saturday, July 24 at the Bainbridge Bluegrass Festival on Bainbridge Island, Washington. We’ll be fresh off our our latest tour to Paraguay and ready to play back home again! We are headlining this wonderful festival, which is a fundraiser for the Stephens House, a day program for developmentally disabled young adults. It’s a great cause with great music, featuring other bands such as The Tallboys, The Blackberry Bushes, and Deadwood Revival.

The Student Loan Returns to Paraguay!

We’ll be leaving for Asunción on Thursday! The U.S. embassy is bringing us back to give a series of workshops to local students, as well as play lots and lots of sets during the country’s agricultural/industrial expo. Are we coming to your town, Paraguay? We’ll be in Asunción, Pai Puku, Coronel Oviedo, and Ciudad del Este between July 10 and 16. Check out our shows page for more information! Hasta pronto Paraguay!
Bartender Saturday at the White Eagle

Come on over to the White Eagle Saloon this Saturday, the 3rd. It’s Bartender Saturday, which means we’ll have new tunes in honor of the people that hear us every week! There’s a great happy hour menu and awesome drinks, too.

First Thursday @ Buffalo Gap and More!

07/01/10: The Student Loan 3.0 (with Sam Howard on bass) will be at the Buffalo Gap this Thursday at 9pm. We’ll be playing material that we’re taking with us on our triumphant return to Paraguay! Check out our “shows” tab for more info on the tour.
07/03/10: Saturday morning we’ll be at the PSU Farmer’s Market, on the new south stage (9am-12pm). So while you’re shopping for yummy Independence Day groceries, you can rock out with The Student Loan, too!
07/03/10: Bartender Saturday at the White Eagle Saloon! We mix it up and play as many new tunes and arrangements as we can, to honor those wonderful people that listen to us every week. This is a free, all ages show! 4:30-7:00pm.
Oil Spill Benefit This Thursday

Hey everybody,
We’re proud to be a part of a benefit event this Thursday evening at the Brickhouse in Vancouver, WA (W. 15th and Main). We’re helping to raise money to support fisherman that have been effected by the BP oil spill. The event starts at 6:30pm, with a variety of speakers, performers, and art displays. We’ll start playing at 11pm. We hope you can join us for this good cause – we can’t all help clean up, but we can do something to help!
Also, we’ll be back at the White Eagle Saloon this Saturday from 4:30-7:00 for our regular happy hour show!

This week “The Student Loan 3.0″ (with Sam Howard on bass) will in Washington D.C. and New York City to wrap up this year’s Rhythm Road tour! We’ll be playing two shows alongside the Charlie Porter Quartet, another Rhythm Road band. Both shows are free, all ages, and open to the public.
Thursday, June 17 – National Geographic Society’s Grosvener Auditiorium (Washington D.C.), 6pm: Charlie Porter Qtet, 7:15pm: TSL.
Saturday, June 19 – Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Jazz at Lincoln Center (New York City), 12:30pm: Charlie Porter Qtet, 2:30pm: TSL.
Krista Herring, an amazing Portland singer-songwriter, and her band will be playing the White Eagle Saloon happy hour show this Saturday at 4:30pm. Check her out, she’s awesome! We’ll be back next weekend for Eagle Hour! Caw!
